about

This Album was recorded live at One Longfellow Square in Portland, ME on January, 15th, 2013.

There's a new band in Portland whose passion, drive and musicianship can best be described by their name, The Burners. Lead by poetic songwriter and break-neck rhythm guitarist Ryan Flaherty, the burners also consist of local guitarist Mike Arciero, bassist Duane Edwards, accordionist Laura Balladur and violinist Phil Bloch. This eloquently rowdy ensemble of modern-day gypsy, americana, french cafe, rock and jazz pioneers are lighting up every stage they play with relentless energy and stage presence. The Wire of Portsmouth, NH describes the Burner's music as "a blend of gypsy americana played with fire and sweat." Perhaps a more accurate description follows with a comparison to famous bands like Gogol Bordello, The Devil Makes Three and The Doors.

Track Name: Plant Food
All your friends and enemies
confess and weep on bended knees
beacuase in the end you're just plant food
the garden earth will swallow you

What it takes to make amends
may truly drown you in the end
but it's the price you sometimes pay
for what you did or did not say

When darkness fades away
and the sun so sweet
falls burnin, on your face
gives you what you need

To share our hearts together friends
forever leaving, it never ends
if we could only prophesize
and bleed no more the broken wine

Cuz it's just ramblin on our soul
to catch the wind of our control
we can't hold down our hearts desire
but we can build a great campfire

When darkness fades away
and the sun so sweet
falls burnin, on your face
gives you what you need

So take these words as only sound
it does not matter in the town
of all our memories stand tall
like buildings growing from the land

Build em up and knock em down
and turn this planet upside down
what else could your mind do next
before your weary bones must rest

When darkness fades away
and the sun so sweet
falls burnin, on your face
gives you what you need
Track Name: When it Comes
I'll never get across this road
consequence for the life I chose
keep on running down the trail
hopefully I will not fail
find the place
kiss your face
leave you there without a trace
maybe I'll come back to you
when the gold is in my shoe
got to town about an hour ago
expectations i bestow
met their woe and hit their low
knocked my knees and crushed my toes
banned me from my vehicle
my money runs out like a joke
they beat me down
they steal my clothes
now their working on my soul

All the money in the world won't save you now
you better live like your gonna die cuz it won't save you now
cry if you want it won't save you now
be careful what you wish for when it comes won't save you now.
Track Name: Devilish Tune
There's a vine that climbs through the wall between us
and it spreads fast as an oak leaf fire
this devilish tune inside it plucks a blazing wish
and it spreads across the valley where the drie wood cries

I want to take you... take you down
I want to taste you... till all the flavors gone...
without knowing till you discover
when the smoke clears out may the world be your lover

I want to enter you... through your mind, I want to enter you to find... you.
Track Name: Phantom
Like a phantom running from the light
I've kissed many lips Iv'e had many fights
Take your gypsy drenched heart to the boulevard
I may not have my wits but I've got my heart...
